COVID-19

Taking Action Against COVID-19

At Lake County Title (LCT), we are closely monitoring the ongoing developments regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) to ensure the health and safety of our employees, clients, colleagues and business partners.

On March 22, 2020, Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine, issued a "Stay at Home" order for non-essential businesses.  Real Estate Title Companies are considered an essential business in the State of Ohio, and therefore, we will remain open during this time.

We have taken and continue to take the necessary precautions to keep our employees and customers safe.

Those precautions are as follows:

  1. Most employees have the option and capability to work from home.  Those that remain in the office are all more than 6 ft apart and in separate offices.  Our offices and conference room are cleaned daily and all door handles and frequently touched areas are wiped down and sanitized multiple times a day and before and after each closing transaction.
  2. All employees' temperatures are being checked daily and if any employee feels ill, in any manner, they are asked to stay home. They will be paid for any sick time they must take during this outbreak crisis.
  3. We have an outside drop box for any documentation or checks that need to be delivered, limiting the amount of contact with clients.
  4. Agents/Notary are required to wash their hands before and after any contact with our clients. Agents will wear gloves during all closings.
  5. Agents will remain at least 6 ft away from the customer(s) at all times.
  6. Pens given to the customers are new and sanitized and each customer will take their pen with them after the documents are signed.
  7. At this time, LCT will not be performing any at home closings for the safety of our customers and employees.

Safe and Efficient Closings - Lake County Title offers the following closing options for our clients:

  1. In Person, In Office - Our office is a street level office and our conference room is a separate room that is to your immediate left when you enter our location. Clients will be sent an electronic PDF copy of their documents prior to closing.  If electronic is not possible, we will overnight the package to you prior to the closing appointment.  Clients should review these documents and speak with their closing agent regarding any questions or clarifications needed prior to arrival at our office.  Once the clients are in our conference room, they will have access to hand sanitizer, gloves and disinfectant spray. Clients will receive a sanitized pen, which they will then keep as their own. The title agent/notary will speak to you via speaker phone while they are in the office adjacent, you will be able to see them through the large glass window and ask any other questions you have. Clients should have their Driver's License present and ready so that the agent can make a copy of the license, the agent will handle your ID with gloves on.
  2. In Person, Parking Lot - Title agent will provide customer(s) with an electronic PDF copy of their closing package prior to closing.  If an electronic copy is not possible, we will overnight your documents to you for prior review and approval, clients should speak to the closing agent prior to their closing appointment to have any questions answered.  Customer(s) will meet the agent in the parking area in front of our building.  Agent will wear gloves and bring the client their package to their vehicle.  Agent will need to make a copy of the photo ID all while wearing gloves.   You will receive a clipboard with documents as well as a sanitized pen for your use, of which you will keep after.  The agent will stand 6 ft apart from the customer while they sign the documents.
  3. In Person, Offsite, Outdoor -  Title agent will meet the customer at their outdoor location of choice.  All of the above steps and precautions will apply. If weather does not allow, customer(s) can remain in their vehicle to sign their documents.
